Wildcat County Park Campground is located in south-western Clark County in West-Central Wisconsin and offers a very remote, primitive campground. By Primitive I mean, no electricity or other hookups. There are vault toilets on-site.
What this campground lacks in amenities, it more than makes up for in location and for what the park itself contains. I’ll get more into this further in this article. It’s very unique.

The Campground…
The Campground is small, maybe 10 sites. It is nestled right up against the Wildcat Mound. It offers exceptional access to the main ohv trail between Neillsville and Hatfield, which is part of the Quad County ATV Trail System, offering over 500 miles of trails.
The campground as mentioned is primitive and you are roughly 20 minutes from a substantial community. So, try to remember everything or you’ll be running quite a distance.
What an amazing spot! Very peaceful, lots of hiking opportunities while here.
The thing that’s super nice about this campground is that the sites are broken up in several different areas, not all bunched together. Sites offer a picnic table and not much else! I love it!

I did noticed, the soil is very sandy and loose, you can see that in the photos above. Keep this in mind if you plan on staying with a larger rig, and keep apprised of the weather situation. You wouldn’t want to get stuck back in here, or tear up the campground.

Why this is a top pick…
It’s the mound! LOL! The Wildcat Mound is a Mound Feature that rises above the surrounding land and has sand-stone cliffs on the south side, offering epic views of the southern Clark County Area.

The steps to the hiking trails on top of the mound, it’s quite a hike!

On the mound, you are treated to some epic views. Watch your step! [/caption]
Conclusion…
If your looking for primitive camping, this is the place. As good as it gets! I can not recommend this campground enough, and to boot, it’s cheap to stay. As of this writing, it’s $7 per night for forest camping in Clark County. Unbeatable!
