Why I Focus On The Upper Midwest, Specifically Wisconsin…

I get asked, sometimes, why my articles focus on the Upper Midwest, Specifically Wisconsin.

Short answer, I live here, I have a full-time job, besides this blog and community, so my ability to travel is limited. Maybe someday, this website will pay the bills and I can travel full-time… But there is another glaring reason why my focus is on Wisconsin.

In all my travels, around the United States for ohving, There is no other State, that is as open to ohving as Wisconsin is. This truly is a mecca of off-roading, Wisconsin is very under-rated, as far as i’m concerned. A good portion of the State of Wisconsin is open. You must get outside of the big metros, obviously but almost everything from town roads to county highways is usable! Allowing you to travel to communities and destinations from the trails. No other State, besides, maybe… the southwestern states, has that kind of access.

We have very active and well funded clubs, and thanks to these clubs, incredible signage for navigation. With such vast and remote areas, navigation was always overlooked, but as of late, the signage within the State has really stepped up and I can see how visitors to these areas are benefiting from these navigation improvements.

OHV Infrastructure has really become a priority within Wisconsin as well, with loads of bridges and tunnel projects to help improve safety. I have noticed more and more infrastructure projects in Minnesota as well, great to see!

It just seems Wisconsin is hitting all the right notes for ohvers and it’s amazing to see the maturing of the sport with these improvements, I grew up on the trails and remember a time when things were not so kept up.

There is a massive OHV crowd within Wisconsin, some 500,000 registered off-roading vehicles and the many tourists from out of state shows that this is a legitimate region for off-roaders.

With all the improvements and all the open access, I know why I focus on Wisconsin. I would focus on the State even if I was able to travel constantly, I promise to venture outside of Wisconsin more as my membership community grows and I can do this full-time, but for now, this is where I need and I want to be as a OHVer and as a media outlets covering off-roading related content!
