Vilas County Forestry, Recreation & Land Department has announced the opening of all County Highway’s To ATV / UTV Traffic, With the exception of the Township Of Lac Du Flambeau. The Department notified the public that the County Highway’s within Vilas County are now signed properly and can accommodate year-round ATV / UTV Travel.
Many counties across the upper Midwest, namely Wisconsin, Upper Michigan and Northern Minnesota have been increasing the access for ATVs and UTVs, allowing off-roaders not only to get from one trail section, to the next, but also gaining access to communities for food and fuel stops, shopping and lodging access.
Please remember, Year-round access to road routes is what is being allowed, this is separate from trail access. Trails close periodically due to weather conditions or storm damage or complaints. Please, check the trail closure pages on the county forestry pages or trail club websites. Know, before you go!
